One of the most important things that you could teach the children is about the history of their land, and the decisions and actions taken by previous generations which might have a bearing on their future. This teaching has to honest enough not to gloss over the reasons in the first place. At the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, the Japanese have ensured that the legacy of that eventful day during the country’s imperial war against the rest of the world almost 60 years ago is taught to the young minds of today, so that they can take better informed decisions when they rise to places of power. On Children’s Day, I couldn’t think of a better picture that captures the true ethos of being a child and having being taught the right things in as secular a way as possible.
